The 3-axis high-precision MIKRON MILL P 500 VHP machining centre is specifically designed and suited for demanding mould tool manufacturing. Thanks to its special linear direct-drive design, the machine achieves accuracies critical for producing high-precision micro-components typically used and found in the information and communications technology sector (ICT).
Competing machines traditionally use ball screw technology, which can negatively impact surface quality/surface finish due to backlash issues. The VHP’s polymer concrete machine bed, with its excellent damping properties, reduces vibrations and, as a consequence also ensures high precision.
Optimal force distribution and long-term thermal stability is ensured by the machine’s symmetric portal design. This is complemented by innovative and smart technologies such as Intelligent Thermal Control (ITC), the Operator Support System (OSS), and Step-Tec Opticool/CoolCore spindles, which can operate up to 42,000 rpm.
